i plan on running 10psi daily and around 18-20psi at the track

*i was going to get a greddy type S but i heard around 12psi the type S starts to leak boost? but with the type R it's said you have to run atleast 15psi and i dont want to run 15psi all the time. can you run a type r with a type s spring and have it not leak boost at higher (18-20) psi?

**also not to be a ricer but does anyone have sound clips on the type R w/ S spring?

***or should i just go with a diff. bov all together? if so, which bov can hold 18-20psi well?

Get a 1G DSM bov. Will hold 20psi stock, 23 psi in crushed form.

I have never heard of a stock 1st Gen BOV hold 20 much less 23 psi. Ive heard that its good up untill 15psi "crushed"

I would look in the classifieds and pickup something a little bit nicer for a little bit more. The BOV is one crucial item in any turbo setup as it stops massive amounts of air grenading your turbo...

I have a Greddy Type S, IM only pushing 10 lbs. but I like it.

If I was to go with any other BOV, I would pick up a Tial 50 MM (Im prett sure its 50 MM)

you wanted a sound clip, click on my website link on the bottom, and there's a vid clip of my ITR on the dyno, you should be able to hear the BOV quite distinctly. I have other clips too, if you want.

I can tell you that the Type S is loud enough to scare old people...

 

The 1g dsm bov will hold 18-19lbs STOCK..you could crush it to hold about 23-24lbs, but that's not an ideal thing to do.

 

I know ppl running the Type S on 16 +PSI and theyre fine...no such boost leaks..

One runs 20PSI at the track and the other was running 18PSI when i took a ride on his car..

 

***anyone have any other suggestions? anyone know the limits on the tial bov? and any suggestions on which spring in the tial bov to run, if im gunna run 10 daily and 18-20 at the track? seems like half the people i talk to say there isnt such thing as a diff. spring u can get and half said there is.... any truth on that OR greddy type R with S spring?

what other sound clips do you have? i wanna hear the tial one.

ive heard many descriptions i want a sound clip!! lol, but back to the more important issue at hand!! someone please provide a truth to all of this heresy

I drive a DSM, I run 18psi with NO LEAKS AT ALL. I have seen plenty of cars running 21-22psi so you're mistaken.


On to the Greddy valves. The Type R is best used is high boost applications because of the stiff spring in it. I believe the lowest amount of boost you can run with it is 12 or so psi. The Type S on the other hand is what you're looking for. I've worked on and seen plenty of cars that hold 18+ psi on them.

The Tial valve is another great one, so is the HKS SSQV.

i recomend the tial. as far as sound clip i dunno...

 

Im runnin the HKS SSQ and I love it. below about 4 psi you can let off and just make a light hiss if you dont want to be noticed and above 4 or 5 it starts to make a really aggressive whistle. With the design of the SSQ the higher pressure actually pushes the valve closed unlike the greddy so they are very, if not completely resistant to boost leak. This is a site that I have fount to be really helpful.

how much boost you plan on running with it? which spring are you gunna use? (yes there are diff springs 7psi and 11psi, some ppl dont think so)

 

i have the tial with 11psi spring and i plan on boosting 26psi.

 

yeah i'm runnin the hks ss and its a push pull type so you dont have to worry about it leaking

 

yea the hks super sequential doesnt have leaking problems but ive heard that some people have problems withthem getting stuck...but all the people i know that have em run em without any problems...
