Default Driving event at Summit Point this past weekend. PICS

Hey all,

Well, this past weekend was a BLAST!!! The car ran great with the new H22. I didn't rev it past 7200 rpms on the cluster. I wish the car had some better bottomend torque...but it was still fun.

The car handled great. I was worried about my swaybar braket breaking, but it didn't.

I went off course once. I tried going down the shoot faster and braking later and harder. Well, it was too much for the Axxis Ultimates. The brakes faded so I had to go straight off. No damage.

I think I am going to take my car to a shop to have it tuned better. I feel that there is still room for improvement. There seems to be a slight bog throughout the RPM band that can be corrected with tuning.

Overall, I am VERY happy with the motor swap. I needed the power in the upper RPM band.

Here are some pics. I only have one of me right now but all of the BMWs you see in the pics are my friends who went with me.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the swap! And even better to see the car out on the track! Now just get rid of those crappy axis pads

I recomend Cobalt Friction Spec-VR's in the front. Your axxis ultimates will be fine in the rear till they are gone. Then put cobalt friction GT-sports in the rear.

If you don't want to change pads at the track then you can go with the GT-sports up front also, but you will not get as much stopping power. Don't run the Spec-VR's on the street, because they don't really work uless they are hot, and they will cut grooves into your rotors when not hot.

I'm allways happy to see more preludes out there!!! I didn't make this trip, I'm low on $$ and I need new tires brakes and rotors so I'm done for the year.

Was that an open track day event? I am trying to go to those and test out my car. And also get more seat time, how much was it to enter the event any details would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think it was a NASA event. They have open track time for beginner to advanced drivers. They also have sprint races (normally 20 laps) that are fun to watch between your run sessions.

For more info check out

http://www.nasaproracing.com

They normally run $150 per day and you get 3-4 (20-30min) sessions out on the track (some times more). Very much worth the $$.

Actually, it was the Ferrari Club's Driving event. NASA is this coming weekend.

Yes, the Prelude is more at home on the track than it is on the dragstrip. I would encourage all to try it once. Once you do, you will soon realize that dragging a car is A LOT harder on it than driving it on the track. You will also realize that driving on the track requires excellent car control and skill. It will also give you a better idea of car dynamics. All in all, it will make you a better driver and should allow you to drive any car fast....not just a Prelude with the mods you have on the car in a straight line.

577HondaPrelude, I spoke to you at BeaveRun at the National Prelude Meet in June. I was the Indian dude who spoke to you at the end of the event. Not sure if you remember me.

Man, I am still thinking about this past weekend. It was SOOOO much fun!!

Thanks for the brake pad advice. I think I have some decisions to make soon. I can't wait to get back out there.

We got 5 sessions of 20 minutes each day. One day we got a 30 minute session.

The Vette owner didn't take the advice of the instructors his first few laps out during the second session. He went hard his first lap and spun in turn 9. He hit a tire wall. There looked to be frame damage, but I am not positive. He rear driver's dide wheels was pushed in.

Yeah Ludes are at home on a racetrack A lot more than on a drag strip..
I race my Lude a lot (always on race tracks..) with other, more powerful cars, and the little Lude is far from slow compared to others.. actually piloting skills are way more important. Slick tires as well Slicks own streets, by far.. but they are quite expensive.
Anyway a lot of people like seeing a Lude on a track, and everyone always compliment me on my car (appearance.. it's stock and clean) and its engine sound (H23A growls.. compared to the bee buzz of civics !)

HAHAHA. The samething happened to me. A few people said that it is nice to see Hondas at the track.

Obviously, mine looks stock too.

Yeah, the Prelude is a well-balanced car on the track for a car that has a 63/37 F/R weight distribution.

That does seem to be a problem here too. Our little track seems to have an appatite for Dodge Vipers. the last one was last december. The guy was new at the track and he said he had 'experience.' So he kept spinning out into the gravel off of turn 4 (too heavy of a foot) and then he got an instructor to ride along and he tried showing off and spun off into a concrete barrier. His wife was there, and she was none too happy. He should have had a civic where you could gun the throttle all day long and never break the tires loose.

Good thing about Civics, you cant go fast enough.
The prelude doesnt stand out as much as the old BMW in the pics.
Gotta be fun driving with cars costing up to 10 times the price of our ludes.

No, I wouldn't. But he would prolly mind if he had to drive mine instead. I would rather be driving my car on any circuit any day than something that easy to lose control of.... I think that anybody would. Let's see.... if I crash my car, i can replace it 10 times now for the price of that Z06. I am betting that most Honda drivers would have fared worse in that Z06 on that track.

accord387: Why should I be joking about my statement? Don't tell me that Z06 is not American Muscle. Obviously more than that owner had the sense to control.

Jack walked up the stairs.

The balloon is red.

The owner does not have enough sense to control his muscle car.
