Default custom cluster question

i am considering fabricating a custom gauge cluster for my 91 si civic. i would like to use an autometer speedo, tach, temp, oil pressure and fuel gauge. i would cut a plastic bezel and mount the guages behind a piece of lexan in the stock location. my question regards the connection of the speedo and fuel gauges..... i would like to use the factory harness and just attach the aftermarket gauges to the wires i already have. i know this would work for tach and temp but i am unsure about the speedo and fuel..... any help would be great. thanks--dave

if you can somehow adapt the stock speedo cable to work an aftermarket gauge you'll be able to pull it off.

If not, install a VSS from a 92+ Civic and then use the sender wires for the signal for a speedometer.

the VSS only has three wires...and yes, it's electronic.

One of those is a ground so it should just be a regular 2 wire hook up.

I'm saying if you get an aftermarket electronic speedometer, a stock electronic VSS should work as the unit sender.

Don't hold me to that, but just logically thinking it should work.

What aftermarket speedo are you looking at?

You'll need to pick one out first and foremost.
