What the heck is an A.I.R. Pump on an S2K?
I slid my s2k down an embankment and knocked the "AIR" pump loose which, according to my dealership, caused my check engine light to come on. Can anyone give me some insight into whether i need this part. Do you get rid of it when you get an aftermarket exhaust system?
That unit is in front of your driver's fron tire. If you remove your bumper, you will see it imediately. Will you need to remove it to replace your exhaust? nope.

Not difficult but if you are not mechanically inclined, have them do it. The pump forces cold dense air into the exhuast system to heat up the cat converter quickly to reduce cold start emissions.
On a rant: I believe that secondary air injection system (fancy name for the pump and setup) causes secondary combustion in the cat converter that damages the o2 sensor in the cat. Mine was broken throwing a check engine light a few years ago, several others complained about the same problem.

Happened to me, too.

To Elaborate a little furhter on vapors rant
The secondary air injection system is only used for 15 seconds during initial start up of the car this helps as said heat the cat by burning oxygen.
The secondady air injection pump looks like a little round black canister. Only reason it's there is to help Honda comply with LEV standards on a finely tuned vehicle!
Don't quote me on this but that AIR injection pump on the s2k's look like factory BMW's try and fine one from a BMW junkyard i will check jack's car this morning

I wouldn't be surprised if it was similar but the connections will be different and possibly the pump will be different as there are more cats in a BMW than the s2000.

I would pic a vacumn pump that uses less current/draw than the secondary air injection pump, if you've seen the wiring on that sucker, you'll see it eats up some serious juice.

I'll have to look into it more and actually get some info on the pump. I'd rather use the pump that I have since I already have it, and it's there.

I know since you have it already, you'd like to make use of it, but honestly, there are already crankcase vacumn pump kits out there for a few hundered bucks.

Yeah I know... But I have other priorities which I would rather spend the $300.00 on. So who know, I still have to look into how much power it drawls and how much vaccum it can pull to see if its actually worth the effort. Hey and if everything looks good than it'll be a nice DIY project
