couple of questions from a newb
what is the average gas milage for b18a1?
why 91 octane in most honda motors...89 is bad???damn the gas prices
for ls/vtec, a b18c head on my b18a1??? which is the best and easiest?
average top speed for bone stock b18a1(in a lil' hatch)?
redline for same motor?
top speed for ls/vtec?
thanks guys you've already helped me a lot
as soon as i get my regular membership...i'll post a complete 88-91 civic d to b series swap guide...so u no longer have to answer stupid, repetitive questions, or at least for a day!

Your questions are annoying. Please use complete sentences when asking favors. 91 octane is best for most jdm motors because Japan is stupid like that. For Ls/vtec you can use any b-series vtec head. So b16 head would work too. I don't know which is easiest or best. I think top speed for b18a1 is somewhere like 140mph. Redline is 6500 rpm i think. Umm...i don't know rest. Search.

Actually his questions are not annoying, I find them very thought out and constructive. Good thing from the new guys, no "How would my 19s look on my stock Hatch?" type question. So here we go...
Average gas milage - 24 mpg / 28 mpg
Octane number - Use octane as you see fit. If you have a low compression stock motor, then there is no need to use the highest one. 89 is usually the middle ground and that is what I am using at 9.7:1. No problems at all running that and even I believe that is overkill. I you must use regular all the time, throw in a tank of some high quality Chevron or ~insert favorite gas brand here~ premium about every 5th.
LS/VTEC - That is about right as you said but word of caution: they are all not that easy and require more than just throwing the head on and calling it quits. This though is a much discussed item so good idea to search.
Speed - 130 ishtic, if you're going downhill and a longer geared transmission. Just an educated guess though, since I am not factoring in any type of wind-resistance what so ever.
Redline - 6600 or 6800 with stock B18A1 ECU
Speed #2- Again, depends on the transmission.

thanks again man, u seem to be the one answering most of my questions...thanks for putting up with me. Oh by the way, i got that engine for $400, and i'm gonna get a pretty good deal for the rest. I should use the cv joints off the '90 acura too right? Also, how the hell do i tell which a/c compressor i have in my '91 hatch? I don't know which it is, and does it really matter which i use to replace it with or would it be easier to just use the one that i could get with the engine, so i don't have to buy a special mount from HCP or place racing? thanks man

AC Compressor Identification - It should either on the compressor itself or somewhere in the engine bay, can't exactly where, say what type of compressor it is. There are only two manufacturers so it will either be one or the other.
Using AC with The B18A1 - Find or purchase the AC bracket that came off the DOHC Del Sol, as the B16s in the Del Sol used a D-Series compressor. Or you can make your own, it is up to you. The brackets that are purchased from aftermarket (for example Hasport) seem to have a mid level occurance of cracking. Do a search and read up on it yourself before making a decision.
The Axles - <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by bambam »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I just called marty at Raxles. He informed me that neither set is correct, while neither set is incorrect also. He told me what i already new which is that 90-93 axles are TOO long. They cause binding and suspension problems I.E. reduced suspesion travel. He said the 86-89 axles are the perfect length but the inner joints are too small and will pop out. He says the perfect axle for this swap (besides the raxles) would be 86-89 teg axles with 90-93 inners. There, problem solved. I've been on that site b4 but now i'm seriously thinking about picking myself up some sticks from there instead of making my own.</TD></TR></TABLE>
