found motor for swap, need advise
I found a B18a1 in a junk yard...lil' under 80,000 miles...just the engine, (block, internals, head, valve cover, intake, etc.) He wants 600, but i bet i can walk away with that motor if i show him 500. Is this a good deal? He also has a 90 ls with all the other crap i need, it has a blown motor...and i could probably snag whatever else i need from that. i just need to know if this is a pretty good deal or should i go with someone who checks everything out and slaps a guarantee on it? he said it came from a '90 ls with no title...and it ran very good... i checked the pulleys and etc and everything seemed ok, nothing locked up, and no oil inside the spark plug holes, and the motor was covered up good to keep water from getting in...what do yall think?
Talk him down to about 400 and call it a day. Don't let these damn Floridian salvage guys keep rippping us off! See if for the 600 he'll toss in the tranny and/or the ECU, but maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part.
