Went out to the Highlands Poker Run '04 not knowing for sure if this was the right day as I only heard about it through word of mouth. Took us about an hour to get there. We ate breakfast and hit the road. Got to the first checkpoint after about an hour and a half. Moved on to the second without drawing a chip. Decided to turn around. Tore it up all the way back to the first check point and ran into everyone. Turns out they were waiting for more people that never showed up. Only 3 cars ran total plus the camera car. Between checkpoints 1 and 2, a 5-spd SER decided to pass the camera car and get on my ***. Their excuse once they caught up to us on the side of the road was their tires (30-40% tread) were bald. My eye started jurting like hell (scratched it) so I let my friend drive the last 40 miles. Once we got to the switchbacks, the fact that I was riding and had one eye closed made me throwup almost. Ran through the rest of the checkpoints and lost. Won the raffle though and got some cool stuff. Then we went home. Over 140 miles on 1/2 tank of gas (was at 5-7 grand most of the time) so mileage wasn't bad at all. Shady Valley, TN. 489 turns in 12 miles, Dragon Smagon. I'm planning out a meet for this place right now.

You go to checkpoints and draw a poker chip with a number on it. After the last checkpoint, whoever has the highest score wins.

Reminds me of the area around Deal's Gap called the Dragon that Runs from Tennessee to NC. 11 miles long with 318 turns. There is nothing like it.

where i come form poker runs are where about 100 cigarette boats get together and race along the water with one person in front leading the way, going full throttle the whole time
