Default turbo kit for my GSR

If you had like $3500 to spend for a turbo kit which turbo kit would you get. I have a 95 GS-R and want to know which turbo setup would be the best for my car. I hope to get a lot of your opinions.

Heh, best is such a subjective term. It all depends on what you want from the car, how built the engine is, who will tune it, etc... You might want to do some serious reading and posting in the FI section.

But, if you're too lazy to do that, then just get the greddy kit. You probably don't need to know anywhere near as much to get that working acceptably, since its a complete kit with fuel enrichment and everything.

well I am looking to have a daily driver and to just run low boost my engine only has about 60k miles on it so it should be pretty safe. I just hear that the Greddy kits arent great. I like the Rev Hard Stage 2 kit but I wanted to know what you guys thought. The tuning part I am not sure who will do it , I would look into that as soon as I had the turbo. I just want something fast to drive daily and take to the tracks occasionally.

wrong...you need to look into tuning BEFORE you have the turbo or even before you spend one penny on parts..

well can you explain to me why I know a lot of people that install there turbos and then tune them a couple weeks later and some dont tune them for months I dont see why tuning comes first in mind.

because driving on an untuned motor is like running with scissors...yea sure you can do it, but sooner or later something bad is going to happen...

the best thing you can do when turbo'n ur car is PLAN AHEAD...no WHO ur going to have tune your car, know exactly how much power you want to make and PLAN BEFORE YOU BUY...

I think all he is saying is that you need to plan ahead. It's way to easy to just put off the tuning after you have the turbo installed. Naturally the turbo is going to come first, but you need to make sure proper (semi-immediate) tuning is rolled into your cost.

*EDIT* Nevermind, he explained his response as I was writing that up.

I am running the drag gen 2 on my 94 GS-R. It has been great. It runs main turbonetics components (turbo, wastegate, intercooler(spearco)), there tech support is excellent, and they offer a complete list of small parts to the small public on the internet. My engine is heavily built, but on 7psi tuned, your car will pull hard. As for tuning i would get all the components at the same time. You are going to need apexi v-afc, RC 370cc injectors, fuel pressure regulator, and an EGT gauge.

i just picked up my xs-engineering turbo kit witth fuel system for my gsr.....if you want a nice reliable well built kit check it out at http://www.xs-engineering.com
also.....like the guy with the vito avatar said...tuning is what its all about...no sense making a 3500 investment to have a 5000 motor rebuild to deal with cause you skipped out on fuel management
