Greddy or Edelbrock Turbo kit
What are the main factors in making a reliable daily driven turbo kit? which of these two bolt-on affairs is more reliable for daily driving? The kit is for an 00 Si by the way.

Re: Greddy or Edelbrock Turbo kit (pearlblueb16)
Maintenance and tuning.
Just because you buy a pre-made kit, doesnt mean you will be relaible all teh time.
There are people using used parts andf throwing **** together to turbo their car and they are running great. If you dont understand the basics of turbo as far as hardware goes, then a pre-made kit is probably best for you.

its all in the tune! and whats makes you want the greddy or edelbrock kit? you could go drag or full-race , they are reliable and the drag will make good power and the full-race will make the most, and also the greddy dosent come with an intercooler, you have to buy that extra.

But that wont be emissions legal. They guy who started the thread is in Southern CA. The only two choices are Greddy or Edelbrock.
The one advantage to the Edelbrock kit is the complex electronics. The B16 kit comes with a even more advanced engine management than the previous SOHC kits. It does adjust timing, both at the cams by using offset keys on the stock cam gears, and with the ECU adjusting timing with boost. Comes complete.
If you have the money, go Edelbrock. If you don't have that much money up front, do the Greddy kit and upgrade with the intercooler and BOV when money comes available.

I think the remaining question is whether or not the power gains with the ball bearing turbo and better FMU is worth the price of the edelbrock.

I know the Edelbrock kit is putting down 220+ whp with the kit, out of the box.
What's the Greddy make?

Re: Greddy or Edelbrock Turbo kit (slowpokesi)
The Edelbrock kit for b16 went hogwash i thought, read a bunch about it on clubsi before the kit vanished from headlines. Havent heard anything at all about the kit in a long time, other than some threads about it not being around anymore (ha). If the Edelbrock kit is available, it is by FAR a superior kit. You cannot even compare the two, and btw the edelbrock's tubo is larger than the tdo5. They were going to use a gt28r then they said ball bearings are only for an 'upgraded' kit (which some saw as a foreshadowing to the fiscal issues they were running into).

NOPE!
There is a backorder on them and the first kits are shipping out tomorrow (Tues Nov 9th).
It did take FOREVER to get em out the door, I think they first said it was going to be early '04. Only a 9 month delay!
