oxygenated fuel and poor gas mileage
I've noticed about a 4mpg drop since the cold weather. Anybody else? I always fill up at the same Chevron.
It's not even *that* cold in Houston. I'm trying to figure out if it may be something else. I am about up for a fuel filter replacement and I haven't dumped any Techron in the gas tank recently. I just don't get it, all of a sudden for the past 3 tanks I've been getting about 24 combined driving when I usually get 28.

it's probably just your lead foot, i get about 300 miles a tank, but once i hit boost its more like two, damn, you can see the needle moving when you boost alot.......but it's all worth it........
The oxygenated fuel that they serve around this time of year will cause a decrease in mpg. The gas is oxygenated to help clean up emissions during cold starts.
However, with gas prices so low, it shouldn't matter all that much

Yes, the oxygenated fuel combined with the cooler weather will decrease your mileage a bit. I had read somewhere about 2-4%. 4 MPG sounds a bit high, but I also think the ambient temperature hurts some also.
Easy... colder weather, dense air... car feels faster, your foot feels heavier.... your gas tank feel lighter.... Chevron feels richer
It's a vicious circle...

Yeah, I had considered the lead foot syndrome, but I'm a very consistant driver. My car is a slow NA GS-R so it's not like the cold weather is going to make that much of a difference where I get throttle happy.
I'll replace the fuel filter and see what's goin on. All I know is that I'm not liking having the light come on at 270 miles instead of 300. Thank goodness for the 1.10 93 Octane chevron near my house.

You sure it's 93 Octane ?
In California premium gas was changed from 92 to 91 octane.
