What are the benefits to this system? Or any other system for that matter? What do they cost, and how beneficial are they? Worth the money? Just wondering.... looking for something to do instead of saving money for years and getting cams.

 

Upgraded ignition is useless unless you're boostin'. Just stick with stock and save your cash. If you need something that will give you serious gains for around $500. Get some N20

 

is your motor stock, are you built or are you boosting, if your motor is stock theres basicallly no reason to have msd, if you have a built motor or your boosting, however, there is, an msd ignition will provide a whole hell of a lot more spark to make sure you get the most proper combustion of fuel, if your boosting for instance you should always use the highest octane fuel available the msd box provides the higher level of spark and helps in the prevention of detonation, with the blaster coil-pushing up to 40000 times more volts than the stock coil, it provides more spark which in turn makes the combustion act that much more stronger.....its really a safety thing for me, i'm boosting 9 lbs everyday so the msd box is definitely needed.......

 

To get the best spark with out going with an ignition system, I suggest just getting copper plugs (instead of the platinum ones)

More HP but they will have to be swapped out every 15K or so. But thats ok...because the coppers are $2 each and the platinums are $20!!

Yeah i'm totally all about the all-motor setup. It's what i want in the long run. Right now the engine is just I/H/E. Yeah i read about the copper stuff somewhere, but i don't remember where. Isn't that the wires they put in the teg's lower than the GSR? But yeah, have to be replaced more often... damn where did i read that? But are these the wires that come out of the valve cover to the distributor? There are aftermarket sets of just wires too right? Are those anygood?

Not really sure what you're asking about "lower wires". Umm, yes copper plugs hafta be replaced much more often than platinum and iridium... but they are cheap, are more efficient and thus lose less power (potential) and provide more safety margin (poor spark amy elad to det). Aftermarket wires are supposed to be more thermal and electromagnetically insulated. They are also wound differently (electromag interference) and sometimes thicker... able to support higher voltage, but not really necessary. They're pretty too Yes, they are from the distributor to the plugs.

 

RealTime racing (the orange and white Type R's) run stock wires.

The same reason for not needing the MSD is the same for not needing wires. The stock wires are really fine to begin with.

Oh and when I was talking about "lower" things. I meant lower trim integra's, like LS or whatever. I think the copper plugs are in the tegs of lower trim than the GSR.

 

Plus Im boosted and with 277whp with stock ignition and wires. Im all about stock....
