Ported boxes give you more spl. Sealed boxes bring out the low frequencies.

Depends what you like I'd rather have lows than spl.

well.....right now in my other car im runnin 2 12" kicker comps with a sealed box.... theyre only 300 Watts a peice........ but these premiers are 800 watts a peice and i didnt know if i ported box wound sound better in my hatch or a sealed........there isnt alot of room back there soo.... if u guys have any input......these 2 kickers bump pretty damn good......but....i find that i cant crank it too high or everything is muffled and sounds like ****!

someone also told me that in hatches ypu get best sound with the subs pointing upwards....that true?

i'm not sure exactly what they're called, maybe crossovers, but if you separate your amp and either stereo or subs, it'll calm down the distortion by eliminating highs and mids. Then all you get is base from the sub, and you can go alot higher in volume. Ported boxes sound better for subs that play more than just base. I like the sound better when you separate all ranges...(subs to play base only, midranges((6x9's or the sort)) to play mids, and tweeters to play highs) sounds alot cleaner, and levels out all sound, where you not just hear base, or vocals, or the little tick tick of the highs over everything else, but hear all of them together, compementing eachother. But that's just my opinion

I always did think two of any decent sub was way overkill in our cars, just IMO.

go with a sealed box, the way it's going to sound in there is gonna be loud and clean, if you port it, you'll have some freq. louder but others muddy from the port.
