Head Replacement
okay, the story: my uncle has a 88 crx si tghat he wants to sell to me for 600. its in great exterior condition, minus the slight rust above the wheel wells. the only catch is that his buddy blew a timing belt, and it needs a new head. he put the timing belt on and all that mess but it still needs that head.
what im trying to figure out is with regular tools, (ratchets, screwdrivers, wrenches, a jack) will i be able to do this replacement and does anyone have a faq or howto on this. im fairly new to the world of engines and i've only done minor tuning to my 94 mirage. what (if any) special tools/skills would i need to swap the head?

It seems as though Bandit74 has a link in his signature about manuals. Take a look at it. If your going to tackle the job yourself make sure you have a buddy with you who knows what he is doing, or can at least check your work. Make sure the head isn't warp either and check the block also.
thanks for the input. as of right now, the car is being picked up wednesday afternoon and towed back here. my uncle supposed to have the head but im unsure if he really has one. i have a friend comin over thurs if i get the head, to help me put it on, and my dad knows about cars and theres this kid about 30 mins away who has 3 crx's and knows them top to bottom. i think im set for the tackling the job myself now i just gota get that damn head.
edit: anyone know if there is a how to for this anywhere on the net ?

haha i just got done like an hour ago with the completion of a new head on an 88dx..its my buddys car the old head was runnin like **** and i diagnosed all the problems and i was stumped...turns out we took the head off and one of #3's exhasut valves was chiippped in 2 places...he drove it like this for 2 months....anyways it was pretty simple if you dont run into any problems...just scrpae the carbon off the valves and pistons....also scrape the deck of the block to get the old gasket off for a good seal the torque pounds is 49 for the 10 head bolts...and there is a certain sequence u have to torque them in
oh , thats cool man. im just tryin to make sure i dont **** something up here. all i need is a bunch of sockets , and a torque wrench right? is there anything special i gota buy (besides the obvious.. head)???
