Default hello im new over here and considering an accord for winter car!

I am an american car fan so i know next to nothing about honda!

can you guys help me about my decision, will a 1992/93 honda accord in good condition (pretty much no rust and engine's good from what i know) with an automatic tranny, survive the quebec canadian winter?

i dont want to shell a ton of money on a car that will break so I want your feedback on how do these cars stand trough winter (with normal old man driving even if im just 19 lol)!!

thank you (and please dont bash on me cause i like american compact cars, i find this pretty stupid when it happens on the american car boards!)

i do not think you could go wrong with Hondas. I helped my 3 kids to buy used Hondas and two of them are still driving them - both in colleges (89 accord and 90 civic). I myself drive 1992 honda accord with 182 k miles and it still has pretty much orginal parts. I personally do not think you could go wrong with a honda, unless that honda is grossly abused by previous owner(s).

FWD tends to be "safer" while driving in winter weather, so an Accord is a good choice.

Just make sure it has a clean record, relatively low miles, and well maintained and you'll be set.

I know about the front wheel drive being safer (well with some good tires they are) but since ive never drove a rwd car in the winter time im pretty clueless about this

btw i drive a cavalier(owned a 1990 sunbird and a 1994 grand am before) will the hadling compare to those? or more to my cavy wich is dropped and pretty stiff and responsive (handling for me = evitation of pothole and obstacle/debris on the road)

I've driven my '92 Accord Coupe auto through two Michigan winters as my dailer driver, and through the 3 winters before that when my wife let me 'cause back then it was hers.

Pros: with good tires (!!!!!), excellent control in snow & slush.
Steering response and suspension balance are way, way beyond the silly sunbird (had one for 2 years, what a POS!)
and bland Grand Am (drove one in rain once, felt numb and dumb).
Also the Accord's reliability is light-years beyond the Americans.

Cons: low round clearance won't make it through big drifts.
I never got hung up, but I live in a well-plowed city in south-western Michigan
and I don't ram drifts like I used to with my old FWD V6 Olds Cutlass battle wagon.

So I would overall recommend the Accord for a winter car.
