Default b16a3? good price? specs? worth it?

My boy is thinking about getting a swap for his car (95 civic ex)...this other guy I know says he has a b16a3 with a gsr head/tranny...that he'll sell me for $2000. $2500 swapped in. Is this a good price? what motor is this from? can somebody tell me more specs and if a gsr head and tranny is good for this setup?

B16A3 is from a '94-95 del Sol VTEC.

A GSR head will bump up compression slightly on a B16A bottom end (from 10.2:1 to 10.45:1). Not sure how the dual-stage intake manifold would do on a 1.6; that would be interesting to see (I imagine it wouldn't be too bad - midrange should have a good improvement which would be nice for a street car). If you want to run a single-stage manifold with that head, your only choice is aftermarket. If you intend to build up some monster race engine (which you probably don't), be aware that the GSR head is tuned more for midrange than top end; it does not respond to head work (like porting/polishing/etc.) as well as the B16A/Type-R head does.

The GSR transmission is a slight downgrade from a B16A tranny in terms of gearing, however it is not nearly as bad as an LS trans. As long as the trans is in good condition with no bad synchros, I wouldn't complain.

As for price, well, that's up to you. If you trust the guy and know that whoever put the engine together is competent, then it might be worth it to you.
