D15B swap w/ JDM p08 ECU pass SOCAL smog?
Has anyone pass california smog with a D15B VTEC swap and JDM p08 ecu pass somg in california? If yes, how many miles on your cat? I have a D15B VTEC w/ JDM p08 ECU that needs a smog but not sure if it will pass. I have a cat is 150000+ miles on it, curious if it will pass So Cal smog.
Anyone have a cat I can borrow?

I dont think so, will like to know the answer also. THe reason I dont believe it will pass smog will be that engine and ECU was never available in the U.S. CA smog sucks big *****, Im also planning on running the same set-up you have there. When smog comes along Im going to cheat it
, the only way around it.
Good Luck

I also have p05 ECU from my D15B7 non vtec... wonder if this ECU will pass... cause I read somewhere that p08 have the leanest fuel map ... We'll see when friday rolls around.
In REALITY the smog rep will not question it if it looks STOCK and if it has all the proper SMOG EQUIPMENT UNLESS he's a Smog ****.
They'll proly hound you more on the CAT than the engine if it looks stock enough. Open Wires, Shiny INtakes, headers, these will make the guys think twice, you don't want that.
The STOCK engine runs hella clean with the STOCK ECU (it's a HONDA!!!)
I'd recommend getting a bottle of the GUARANTEED2PASS stuff avail from CRC. Drops the readings quite a BIT.
Good Luck Bro.

i heard that a d15b will pass smog since they just look at the motor and if everything is completely stock , they wont say anything. if they check the code it will read D15b pretty much lookin like a dx or cx. when i did my test only on my d16z6 they mostly worried bout any aftermarket parts to the motor and passing emission test.

A garrenteed way to pass the smog with a jdm d15b is to swap the head to the head that came with your car. I've seen it done to my friends car (bluracer). He has a 95 vx, so we just put a vx head with the p07 ecu and it passed. I guess they thought it was a d15z1.
I know this seems like a hassle, and it probably is. I would only do this if you have no other ways to pass with that motor. If you can find another way, use that.
