Default omni street or sport????

I would like people with experince with these 2 setups to chime in let me know which on they like more and why....I'm looking for a pretty stiff ride(NOT BOUNCY) but a little forgiving to be daily driven for my ITR.....I searched and didn't get the answers I'm looking for....

I have the sport set up... So far, I do not like them.

I have either set the preload up too high on them/ running too low/ or this is just the way they are.

I am going to eventually play around with them and see if I can get a good ride out of them and even get the car corner balanced.

If you have the Sport setup, they're probably supposed to be like that.

anybody else........I have the sport setup now but I was sent coilovers that are for a civic and not an ITR so I'll be sending them back. Both setups are same in price and I've been really thinking about chamging to the street setup....I want a stiffer tighter ride for my daily driven R so......anybody else's opinion?

Im still not 100% sure about how to preload the coilovers properly. The instructions advise that this part is important but the detail isn't there. Im still waiting for a response from steve

I have the sports. I love them. Getting them dialed takes time but yields good results.

kengs has a set of Mugen Lowdowns for sale... they are perfect for daily driving and occasional track (1-2 times a year). I know it's a random post, but since the original poster asked for a "comfortable" ride yet firm during daily driving, i'm posting some other options.

Guys its really not that hard. Preloading would be compressing the spring before there is any weight on it. You have to adjust the top nut to compress the spring the right amount before there is weight fromthe car on it. THat gives it a more solid ride.

Over preloading would be lossening the top nut all the way to the top, twisting the spring perches upward until the spring touches the pillow mount and then tightening the top nut down again. If you overcompress it it will be too stiff.

This **** is not rocket science. If you are really lost, just go get it cornerweighted.

I think that Omnipower might've made a mistake talking about preload as much as he did.

It's true that preload is important, but you're talking 1/8" here...I think people are reading too much into it and overdoing it.

Am I the only one baffled by the whole "preload" craze? Especially how it affects ride "quality"....

Unless we're talking variable rate springs here or sumthin...

No.

I'm sure Omniman is puzzled.

Tell us what spring rates the two different Omnipower setups are, and maybe that'll help people help you.

On my DC2 ITR, I have revalved konis with 500# (9.1K) Front and 750# (13.6K) Rear. To me, this is entirely tolerable on the street but some people act like it's going to bounce them out the window.

For whatever it's worth, the Old Guard setup for a roadgoing ITR that was occasionally tracked was 400# (7.3K) Front and 500# (9.1K) Rear. I have used that setup, and it was great on the street. Nobody else ever complained about it, either.

I'm thinking that Omniman's setups are something close to those two, but perhaps with the spring rates reversed F/R in order to provide safe understeer. If that's true, then perhaps our observations about our own setups would also be relevant to what you're about to do.

I have an EP3 Omnipower setup that's being installed as we speak.

George, rates are:

Street: 10K-8K (560lb - 450lb)
Sport: 12K-10K (670lb - 560lb)

There obviously isn't a huge difference between them. As you obviously know, preload has been blown way out of proportion. IMO, it shouldn't have even been mentioned since the only negative effect would be from preloading too much.
