The other day i dyno'd the car, so just for Ha'Ha's i was trying different things. I guess it really all depended on what we tuned the car with .. But.. i took the filter off and loss 15 horse, I threw back on and the outcome was 487@the wheels. I was in Aww.... Just wanted to share this..

This is most likely on a turbo car. The inlets of the turbo do have a tper to them, but it always helps out more with the venturi which usually on the inside of the filter.

The air filter straigtens the air going into the tube, like a radius edge when flow bench testing.W/O the filter the air catches the edge and tumbles around for a while.Thats why shawns magic air tube makes power, well one of them.It has a massive radius on the front end.
A big *** radius is not neccesarily what you want all of the time. This can actually slow down the air. A smaller proper raidus is usually what works best. Typically found in AEM, K&N and Airaid filters. Not a huge *** radius like some people run on there drag cars.
I think you missunderstood me alittle,I didn't say big radius's were why the motor made more hp w/the air filter .I said it straighted out the air like a radius does.Radius sizing is whole other topic. That's just something you have to test and tune to get right by trial and error.
