Default Replacement Axles

Does anyone know where I can find a set of good replacement axles. I'm looking for something along the lines of "raxles."

I hear the CV boot repair kit is pretty cheap stuff [quality-wise], and my CV boot is gone. Also, any ideas on how much the pair will cost? Thanks.

I just got rebuilt ones from carquest, they were like $60-80 for each axle. They charge you a core charge for your old axles and you get the money back when you take your old ones in. I don't really know if you can repair a CV boot. If your need to replace one axle, you might as well replace them both at the same time Unless you are throwing down a lot of power and breaking axles, I would say stock replacements are better for you.

It is easier to just replace the axle versus just the boot. You can get a remanufactured axle at most parts places. Be sure to also check the output shaft seal to see if it is leaking before you remove the axle. You need to also know if you have an automatic or manual tranny and if you have abs or not...

I think they all come with the ABS ring, cause I ordered them for my S w/ no ABS and it came with them.

Thanks.
Do you have any quotes to prices on remanufactured axles from a parts store
vs. brand new replacement axles from an online vendor [i.e. raxles.com]
vs. brand new axles from the dealership [don't want to go that route!]

AND

If the output shaft seal IS in fact leaking, what precautions do I need to take? In other words, what was the significance of that statement? Really appreciate the help. Thanks again.

axles at my pt job Advance Auto usually run anywhere from $69-79 each. They come with a lifetime warranty.
Dealership by my house charges $160-180 each new and they also warranty any part from them lifetime.
On-line vendors usually don't offer any warranty or one that lasts 30,60,90 days or 6mo-1yr. or something along that line.

Also with the output seal, I believe he means make sure its not leaking and if so replace it so that the job/labor doesn't have to be done twice. Or if it happens like it happened to me:
the people I had fix my axle didn't check the seal (which was leaking) and caused me to BLOW UP my transmission. I replaced it with a vtec one though. hahahaha so in a way thanks to the dumb *** mechanics.

I have a newly rebuild drivers side axle that I would sell you; it's an OEM axle that I had rebuilt as a spare, but if you need it, I'll gladly pass it on. Drop me a PM if you're interested. As far as replacement, talk to Dan @ rcrewracing.com, they should be able to help you out, or Jeff @ hybrid automotive.

FWIW, I was in the position of needing replacements. Ended up at Auto Zone ($~75 each), but the thing that truly amazed me was this:

At the Honda dealer, they have a mat on the counter with axle replacement #'s for each model, and at the top of the mat it said Certified Remanufactured drive axles (or some such). I asked the price, and was told $372...EACH!!!

AutoZone provides a lifetime replacement warranty, so go that route and save your receipt.
