Default seat fabric

Has anybody ever tried to take the fabric off their seats and run it through the wash? I'm just wondering how it would hold up, with that fake leather on the back and all.

Any idea how it comes off? I see some copper colored pieces along the bottom, do they just pull out?

I'd recommend taking it to a dry cleaner. Some of those washers can tear fabric up.

take it to a detail shop and have them steam clean the seats.

How much would that run? I figure if I could safely throw them in the wash, it'd cost me about $2.

I got it almost the whole way off, but the hard part seems to be getting the fabric off at the top, where the headrest posts go in. hmm.

I think while I'm in there, I'm gonna replace the side bolsters with a piece from a passenger seat I have.

Push the headrest switch that allows you to adjust the headrest. When you push it to the side, there should be a screw there. I'm pretty sure that's all you have to do to take them off the main part of the seat.

Nope, there's no screw in there. Not on 89-91 dx seats at least. I actually found out the long, complicated way, that there are two tabs at the bottom of where each post goes, that you gotta squeeze together and then the plastic pieces pop out. You gotta reach way up inside the seat underneat all the padding. It's more complicated than it sounds though, especially if you haven't ripped one completely apart like I just got done doing!! LOL 2 1/2 hours later, I have nice new firm bolsters again!
