Default auto vs manual engines

this may sound stupid, but im lookin for a D16 engine.. does the engine it self have more power between the automatic one and 5speed ones... i uno maybe they made the automatic weaker? haha

According to Honda numbers, Manual vs. automatic has no difference...In reality, you lose not tons but a significant amount of horsepower with automatic. I still drive my auto, though its very boring. I had a mazdaspeed protege 5spd and it was damn fast. But you're not losing too many horses, but it will definately be noticeable. VTEC's harder to get into with auto as well.

5 speed is a 10% power loss, auto is a 15% power loss, I think. Someone else correct those numbers if they arent right, its late

yep ... the first gen B16 auto cams suck compared to the manual ones. also, the ecu's are different. a B16 auto ecu has a 7200 rev limit, manual has 8200. this is an easy fix though: just desolder the resistor at R17 and put a jumper wire in it's place.

this has nothing to do with a D16. i don't know if they're are any differences between an auto D16 and a manual, aside from the ecu.
