Default VTEC resonator/short-ram

hey i just put one of those ghetto short-rams that you get from ebay for like $20 on my car and it sounds great, seems to pull a bit harder, but i have some questions. there are a couple of vacuum hoses that i left disconnected, and there was a plug that's supposed to plug into the vtec resonator that i left unplugged because it had nowhere to go. did i just disable my vtec, and what should i do about the vaccum lines? one line is supposed to go from the intake hose to the fuel injection, (at least that's what it looks like) and the other goes from the car's stock bumper intake to the vtec resonator, up along the firewall, to what looks like maybe the vtec solenoid on the other side of the engine bay? i was planning on buying some tubing to connect things that are supposed to be connected, but i'm worried about screwing something up, and i'm not sure if my vtec still works. before i felt a noticeable surge at 4k, now i'm not sure. either way, the car feels a bit fast and a hell of a lot louder. i'll take pics when it stops raining. THANKS!

ok...i did a search here and on google...what the **** is a vtec resonator. i just wanted to make sure i didnt miss anything.....whiche i was 99% sure i didnt. if i have then please enlighten me.

VTEC doesn't have anything to do with air intake (that i know of, other than the obvious change of the cam lobes).

so again....fill me in, or else better explain your problem.

there's a big ole piggy-back box connected to my stock air intake tubing that left some open vacuum lines when removed. there was also a plug that plugged into either that box or the stock airbox. i'm sure it was a sensor of some kind. i just want to know exactly what i disconnected and whether or not i should worry about it. car runs fine, no check engine light or anything.

madd, i know the car monitors stuff like oil and airflow to determine when to activate the vtec. i just wanted to make sure i didn't disable something it needed.

so i guess i'll just get some tubing to connect everything up and let the rice rumble reign supreme. i would still really like to know what the hell sensor i unplugged. i assume that box was just a resonator to quiet the intake noise.
