awd integra
i was curious if you use cr-v parts along with integra parts would it be possible to do so?? i know people use a cr-v block but what about trying to use the tranny and awd axles and drivetrain. has it been done or even tried??i hope that everyone doesnt think that i am a complete retard
well i pulled out the three Honda Tuning magazines that dealt with converting your integra to AWD. here is what i found to start out:
this was from the October 2003 issue:
1. removed all interior for welding
2. "the CR-V transmission contains a transfer case to send power to the rear differential.. we'll replace the integra tranny with the CR-V unit. while it is not necessary to remove the engine and the tranny from the integra, we recommend it. we also removed the radiator since we'll be welding in the engine bay and a hot piece of metal will slice right through our cooler. now is a good time to remove the shifter and shift linkage, we wont be needing neither."
3. "since the CR-V conversion will end up as a 5 lug conversion in the rear, we ordered a set of Type R front knuckles to match the rear. you'll need to remove the front suspension steering knuckles that contain the front brakes and driveshaft hubs. remove the ABS and brake lines and take the front knuckles off of the car.
4. disconnect e brake cables and remove the ABS lines coming from the rear brakes and lower control arms. disconnect your rear brake lines and drop the rrear trailing arm assemblies. also remove the rear shocks.
*** if you are curious about what else needs to be done, then tell me. because this is just the beginning and it is a lot of typing for me, so i dont want to waste my time if nobody even cares, lol.

A company called BRAILLE AUTO DEVELOPMENT did the conversion...It's an Integra with a B-series motor mated to a CRV tranny and drivetrain (CrV axles had to be cut to fit the integra). They did away with the "real time AWD" part of the transfer case (clutch packs and oil pumps), and welded the input and output shafts togrther creating a 'locked' differential...They also had to weld alot of reinforcment for the rear diff..........They did road testing on a track and said once they got some practice in they were qoute "serving up a plateful of Z06 corvettes and porsches for lunch." Future plans are said to build a turbo motor for it as well as deal with some weight issues. BRAILLE's website is http://www.brailleauto.com
They acually manufactured a AWD teg in Japan (only made about 500) for northern Japan where it is snowy/icy all the time as far as I know it was a combination of integra and CR-V parts ....so it is possible to do but as far as converting ...Pain in the *** and lots of good money spent

actually it was based on the civic awd system not crv. in that model tho it was using a SOHC D motor, not DOHC B.
