I have heard alot of good things about the AN-R header. I mean, any motor with a an-r header will respond excellent to it. I am not a big fan of DC sport, i think they make more noise than power. My list is.

Toda
Spoon
Mugen
SMSP
AN-R
DC

Of course TODA, SPOON, and Mugen are the best headers around, but yet too expansive $ 900 for TODA, I think $700 for MUGEN, Spoon Iam not sure about, DC headers are good and yet within the budget for me of course

Spoon and mugen are not the best headers around,,its just a name,,
A DC sport header will hold up to anything,,And it is worth the money..
U can even buy one used and not worry about it cracking at the welds like spoon..

An-r or BISI headers are the best though...but pricey..

I dont think a really expensive header such as toda, spoon, or mugen is worth the extra 2 hp and 2 lb. torque. Didnt some guy just crack a 900 Mugen header? I think a lot of people are paying for the brand name instead of the design.

A spoon header will easily make more than 2hp vs another header like a usdm dc and even the jdm dc. Remember that it is all about peak power.

I highly recommend the toda header for off the shelf headers and next comes spoon. Honestly the mugen is of an old design and there are other ones out there.

Headers will crack depending where you live and how long it has been in the car no matter what brand but I am willing to bet $ that the spoon header will hold up much longer than the dc ss.

to keep it inexpensive and simple. The DC sports 4-1 one piece jdm type r header does well. I've used both the 4-2-1 and 4-1. The 4-1 setup yielded better results.

They don't have a JDM DC 4-2-1, so comparing the JDM DC 4-1 and the USDM DC 4-2-1 would not even be fair due to collector sizes.

JDM DC 4-1 = best bang for the buck but the ground clearance is one of the worst out there.

yeah thats what i m ost curious about.. But owning an ef and putting a 4-1 header is not so simple... wondered if it was worth the trouble.

Mista bone or Transex says that the 4-1 will always be better...but never explained to me why.

personal experience will be enough to persuade me.

I've run a b16 against a friends. Same setup with the exception of the header. I had the two piece 4-2-1, he had the 4-1 one piece jdm (2 1/2" collector.) He edged me out in first gear, then proceeded to walk me in the 2nd and 3rd gears.

After getting the header changed to one identical, we were both even.

The larger pipes allow more exhaust to flow which gives better top end performance than the 4-2-1 design.

Good info.

Does anyone know of any 4-1 headers that would clear the x member on an ef with b seires swap?

Doubt it.

Brent, i think your best for now is a JDM DC 4-1 or JDM ITR 4-1. They will give you the best bang for the buck and with a 4-1 you will loose some low end tq, but you will gain high end hp. So it's a give and take situation.

Then after you save some bucks i'd say upgrade to something like SMSP, AN-R, or Toda/Spoon. There are many dyno charts on here of guys pulling some sweet numbers with those headers.

Goodluck man

P.S. Congrads on gettin the car running, my turn now
