Shortcut for hooking up speedo cable to speedo?
ZC in 91 Si, Si tranny.
I think I've narrowed down my speedometer problems to my connection at the speedo, as some people suggested. Reason being, the VSS (and cable) are able to pull away from the car 6 inches or so pretty easily, and when spinning the VSS pinion manually, a sound can be heard at the dash, but only when the cable is not "pulled away".
So, I looked in my Haynes, and pulling apart the dash / console to fix this is not something I want to do. I'm wondering if I can maybe stick a tube over the speedometer cable and fish the connection back on through the firewall? Or, can I cut a hole in the firewall to reach it? Can I go in from under the dash somehow?
What can I do?
