Hi I have an 1986 Accord LXi F/I. Has anyone have experience problem with idle going up and down (rev'd up and down).. I have not found any loose hoses or vac lines. Car runs great... It just startup all sudden. I had to replace timing belt and distrubur.

 

Check your timing and make sure it's set correctly.

Check for air leak w/ throttle body cleaner. Spray around intake manifold and all likely spots. Any change in idle speed would indicate a leak

What would timing have to do with anything? If you're timing is off, you will hear pinging...

To the original poster...when does the car bounce during idle? Is it right after startup or when....

 

i have an 87 LX-i EF-I and mine does the same thing, check your throttle control valve, mnine use to do it all the time then i found a used one and it does it less so i know thats my problem, if you want some picutres or talk more, add me to msn b8er@hotmail.com

If the timing was out of spec, it might cause the ECU to hunt for correct timing. If you change the timing significantly, it can cause a substantial change in idle speed.

Does it do it when you are warm or when the car is cold at initial start up?
