Very Detailed Cluster Problem-Yea, I searched.
Okay, here we go. Car is an 89 STD Hatchback. I bought an either 88 or 89 CRX cluster and installed it. Everything works, except for one problem. The temp gauge moves up and past the H(ot), this is just when putting the key in the acc position, and stays up there while driving. The temp gauge is supposed to be green/yellow wire. This wire goes into the last position on the larger male connector (pos. 12). Ive read a few pin out pages and none of them seem to be helping me. Most of them say the green/yellow wire is supposed to be in spot #3, but the one that is there is white/yellow, which is supposedly the fuel gauge, and my fuel gauge works perfectly. What I guess I need is a pinout from an 88-89 crx, and the pinout from a std. I made sure the copper on the back was clean, and am at a ******* loss for words. If anybody can help, it'd be greatly appreciated. The std. Cluster's temp gauge works fine. Heres some pictures as to draw in more people.

Weird.. Did you buy this strait from the autowreckers? the only thing i can think of is the needle being in the wrong spot (from someone fooling around with it).
unplug the wire or sensor and see if it temp needle goes limp. The pinouts should be the same within 88-89 and 90-91 (someone correct me if i'm wrong).. if you swapped a cluster from a new car many things wouldn't work. So, it either works or it doesn't.. never heard of just one part of the cluster not working because of pinouts?

Yes, I did. Il unplug the wire from the sensor tommorow. If I unplug the wire in the #12 spot, (green/yellow), and it goes limp, where should I go from there?
lol my 88 crx does this too..
i find when i hit a decent bump it falls down to normal. THen i found that if i smack the top of the cluster cover it comes down too. (sometimes).
try smackin the cluster.

If you have your old cluster still, given it's the same kind. If you can salvage your temp/fuel from it, just swap those two out.
or get a new cluster
or get a new cluster

Okay, update...When I unplugged the wire from the block, the temp guage still went to hot, when I took out the green/yellow pin in spot #12, the temp gauge didnt move at all. I tried putting the old cluster in, and for some reason only worked when the smaller plug wasnt plugged in. Heres a comparison shot of the back of the cluster, the large plug.
