After months of thinking, I've finally made my decision...time to boost! My question is what size turbo should I go with? I'm not trying to go all out with the biggest turbo I can find, I wanna stick with low boost 6-8 psi and maybe 10 psi at the track (occasionally). Im on a budget, I just got a check back from the financial aid for 976.00, so why not start piecing up a turbo? Now my question...the turbos from full-race.com is what I've been looking at lately, I wanna buy a turbo for under 700, which 1 should i go with? The car is going to be my daily driver. I live in the suburbs, but im also on the highway a lot. If any of you guys feel that this is not enough information, lemme know and I will try to explain in more detail. Thanks in advance.

A better question to ask is how much power do you want to make and where in the rpm range do you want to make it. Those questions can usually be answered by looking at your driving style. Do you like scca or drag racing? Once you answer those questions then it will be easier for us to give you a suggestion on which turbo to buy.

im looking for 250-300 hp and power between 3G-8G RPM. SCCA. I have a 1st gen B16a w/ J1 tranny in my 92 Integra RS w/o AC. Im not looking to boost my car to the fullest, just something to give it a lil more power. Like i said, im only trying to go 6-8 llbs, 10 max. I live in a small town with a **** load of stop signs, but Im usually on Route 1 most of the time, or some major highway. I want something that spools quick, if that makes any sense coming from my mouth.

 

250-300 whp with quick spool. If 350whp is the most you'll want and you want to daily somwhere in that 250-300 range I'd recommend a t3/t4 .48 AR 57trim turbo. I had one of those and it was very responsive pulled very hard till redline and the power came on quick with it. It's also pretty affordable. That should do what your looking for.

Great, thanks. Next question...what turbo manifold should i get? I have no A/C, but i have p/s. Im in love with the equal length manifolds that full-race, and lovefab have, but....im not tryin to spend a over a grand or over 500 dollars on a manifold. Now dont get me wrong, im not tryin to be cheap, but if i can get something with just as good quality but cheaper, im taking it. Thats why im thinking about a log style manifold. What do you think about blox?

 

you wont be able to get a lovefab SST anymore..last batch were sold last month...

 

Inlinepro, Blox, any manifold with a wastegate positioned where all four runners converge is great as far as a log mani is concerned. Both oif those listed will make and take power, wont kill your bank account, and have and are still running on hundreds and hundreds of cars succesfully. You really cannot go wong with such a simple manifold!!

If you really want an egual length on a budget this is a good way to go. I don't personally have one but I've seen some good posts on them.

 

Theres a thread on H-T for the Blox manifolds, 295 shipped! ...Lifetime warranty, i think i made my decision. Blox manifold with t3/t04e 57 trim .48 A/R. Wanna go with Hondata but a lil on the expensive side. Is there anything thats just as good for a lil cheaper? I heard about Uberdata and such, but is it a good idea? I'm no expert tuner but after having looked over Hondata, and having two hondata systems, and looking over Uberdata, I'd say go uberdata and have it tuned by a reputable tuner. It doesn't look like you'll be needing any of the advanced features that hondata offers so why spend all the money. Your also not looking to make huge whp. It's my opinion that Uberdata will do you just fine.

 

you'll regret the .48ar exhaust housing on a b16...go .63ar

The .63 will make more power up top but spool a bit slower. Not a lot mind you because overall it's still a small turbo. I've had the .48 before, like I mentioned, and it spooled very quickly and made good power. However, if I had to do it over again I'd have gone with the .63. It's really all personnal preference and driving style. Between the two your probably talking around a 300-500 rpm difference on spool and about 30-50 whp more up top. Granted that's at peak boost on race gas so keep that in mind when your considering the decision.
