just bought a new accord, now question about mod'ing and warranty..........
hi guys, i just bought an 04 accord coupe v6 about 3 weeks ago. got it for $26g's cash fully loaded minus navi. for the ppl who are actually keeping the warranty, whats the restriction on it? im not looking to heavily modify the car, but minor mods such as intake and headers....just want to know will that void the warranty? the guy at the dealership told me that any xtra work on the engine and suspension will void the warranty right away....but does it apply to small bolt on mods like intake? and say if i get my suspension done by honda themselves, will that still void the warranty? thnx in advance guys
i would assume that if he said that then the intake and header would be out of the question. the parts would have to be Honda OEM for them to warrenty anything.... im not quite sure, but if he said ANY extra work to the motor would void the warrenty then i would assume that ANYTHING added would void it.... maybe someone else has a different opinion, or maybe the guy was trying to scare you away from doing anything to the car
lol my mom just gave me today's mail....its from the honda dealership with a card for a free complimentary oil change once it hits 3000-4000miles and theres a phone number to call to talk to the shop. i guess ill call them tomorrow and talk about whats ok and whats not. worst comes to worst, i can use my old 93 accord as a project car and make it a total sleeper
honda recently released a "high performance" trim i guess, where you can get a full lip kit, a revised suspenion (probably some springs) for an approx 1 inch drop, and a couple other goodies for your car. the price is supposedly pretty high, but im sure it wont void your warranty since it is dealer installed. if you are looking for some warranty safe mods, i suggest you going through honda.
btw, accord v6 coupes are fast as hell!

Congrats on your purchase. I just recently bought a 04 coupe too, but mine's a 4cyl. i had the very same question about the warranty and the response i got from my dealer was that ANY, absolutely any aftermarket mods will in fact void your warranty. i even pointed it out to her that minor stuff like intakes and exhaust wont adjust anything to the engine and the displacement of the engine, but she still said no.... well i hope that you just got a standard 3 yrs warranty, i got screwed by getting a 7-yr/100k. it wasn't my choice...

lol my mom paid the xtra money for the 7 yrs warranty...she did paid for the whole car as my bday present but its ok...if i cant mod the car, i wont die, i'll just get a nicer car in 3 or 4 yrs. i love hondas but im kinda eyeing the new gen m3 or the s4 lol
.
and to the other guy, u are right...honda does offer a performance package that includes a kit, better suspension and other goodies for $5g's. too much money imo
