Default My car too heavy to be quick????????

hey whats up guys I have a 92 GSR (setup in sig). last time I was at the track the car weighed in at 2700 lbs wit me in it (155lbs). I am currently working on a new setup for my car. Do you think its worth it in a 2700lb car? Is my car too heavy to be a quick all motor car.? I would like to run like 13's but my car is really a pig. is it possible to run 13's with a good all motor setup or will I have to get a hatch to see those types of times? Im not sure if I should sell my car because of weight issues or if I should just go with like a B20 set up or something for more power. Any advice, criticism and feedback always appreciated. Thanks guys

Nothing wrong with having a heavy car as long you have the power to propel it. Usually with a heavier car one runs turbo and or NOS

You can run 13's all motor with a heavy car. When my coupe was a pig (at least 2650, if not more) I was running mid-13's with 200 whp.

My buddy had a 92 GSR that ran a 14.3 on drag radials.

That was with a JDM GSR motor, ITR cams, I/H/E and weight reduction.

I only ran at the track 1 time so Im a beginner and I ran best 0f 15.5 with 2.5 60' and 92 mph trap speed. I had some shitty *** tires on full psi and 2700lbs. I need to work on 60' bad but I need some practice at the track. Just wondering if my heavy *** pig had something to do with those crappy times. I was hoping to do much better I actually just went to watch but then I was told that I didnt need helmet tpo run so I said what the hell and just raced my car without any preparation or track experience. but yeah, that was my best time

Having a heavy car doesn't mean that it can't be quick. It just means that you need more power to get a given level of performance. In other words, you can get 13 seconds. But it is going to be harder to get there than it would be with a CRX.
