Default OEM ITR JDM headlight Question!!!!

Hey I was wondering. I just crashed my dc2 on the passenger front and oem hid itr headlight is basically in ruins but the hid, projector and ballast is still ok. I was wondering......since it's basically impossible to find another set of oem itr jdm hid headlights. Could I buy another set of oem non-HID and put the projector and ballast into the non-hid headlight assembly. Would the results be exactly the same? Please anyone with info help out.

I thought that housing(inside) had to be able to withstand the heat...my buddy tried to hid his sentra and he melted the inside housing

is the inside housing still good from your other one??

HID don't generate much heat. Those "looks like HID" bulbs, if they are overwattage, do though. If you use the projector itself, then you can put it in a non-hid projector housing and it will be fine. Just open up the housing, and swap the projector, thoug hyou may need to modify it some to accept it, mounting points, etc...

hey can you take pics? I'm just curious what the inside of the JDM headlights look like. Also if you do get a non-HID headlight and open it up, take pics of that, too, because I really want to see the difference between the two, so that I can then make recommendations for retrofits when people want to put HID in their JDM non-HID headlights.

To begin with, it certainly isn't impossible to find a set of JDM ITR HID headlights. That being said, I don't believe you'll be able to accomplish what you're planning (at least not easily) for a couple of reasons. The main reason is that the HID and halogen projectors are different sizes, so they won't be a direct fit when swapped from one housing to another. I don't recall which projector is smaller (I think HID), but at best you'll end up with a gap around the projector, and at worst they won't fit in the housing and will require some trimming. I also think you might run into some trouble mounting the ballasts and sealing the rear if the housings because of differences in the designs of the HID and halogen versions. Anything's possible, but in the end it will be much easier, in my opinion, to simply source a replacement HID housing.
