How do I install my d&d Exhaust???
ok I own a 01 yamaha yzf600r. I just purchased a d&d slip on exhaust but can't figure out how to get it on. I took off the fairing and got the old exhaust off but i cant figure out how to get my new exhaust on. One end is smaller then the other and tapered so it looks like it will snug into somewhere it also has four slits in it. The other side is just the same size as the hole piping until the tapered side. Which side goes into my collector and which one goes into the exhaust muffler. Also i got it off ebay and it is used and the four slit tapered side has each part bent in a little. Can any one help me.
i had the same bike with the same muffler... this is the way i did mine, i first had to fit the midpipe by placing it to the collector, the d&d pipe should go on the outside of the collector at the header. Once in place, i put the camp on, didnt tighten it yet, then i connected the muffler to the other side of the mid pipe and the put the clamp on, again dont tighten completely until the pipe is in the exact place you want it to be.. once the fitment has been checked, go ahead and tighten both clamps. The slits are a little bent because it is used, however it is still fine, its just from use.. you wil have to tighten them very tight or you will have a leak.. good luck.. and enjoy... i hope u like to be loud, cuz that d&d sure is super loud, but i loved it... had d&d on my 600R, R6 and now looking to get one for my R1..
I have to buy an exhaust gasket for where the exhaust connects at the collector right? do I need one where it goes into the muffler? Also where can I buy an exhaust gasket and one of the clamps. Would a normal say axle clamp work for the portion where it connects to the collector. Thanks for the help.
actually no, you dont need a gasket... i thought the same at first, but you dont need it.. you just gotta make sure that you get it nice and tight, i didnt have a problem with mine, and most slip ons are like that. as for the clamp, i am not very sure about that... might want to go to the hardware store... or call d&d.. good luck
