OT: The fate of my engine
So we put the old engine back in yesterday. Woohoo 1.5 L power
We took it apart today and found:
loose flywheel bolts
Thats it. I have every lil piece of my engine apart right now & all is good. Looked everything over carefully....
Soooo.... now that it's all apart... time to find out which cams will work & get some machining done.
BTW... Albany brake pads work really well
The reason I had bad braking last wkend at VIR was because those pads completely sucked ****. They were gone & I was braking on nothing but the backing plate. bleh. I put them in before I went to the hotel.
All is well... & will be better!!! Glad nothing really was bad.

If you are going to use cheap brake pads, don't use Albany. I agree; they are terrible. Mega fade and super fast wear....
Use Pep Boys Raybestos Ceramic Enhanced QS Nascar Select (whew! thats a mouthful). These pads STAND UP to track abuse. They are fairly easy on rotors, too. I typically get 8 to 10 hard track days on a set, plus 5k or so street miles.

Hey, Pete...that's great to hear...glad it wasn't much else than that. (For some reason I was thinking there were holes in the block and oil puking out onto the ground). Good luck on gettin' it back together, mang!
Pete, you really gotta pull a few exhaust valves or at least do a leakdown. Bent valves do not always appear bent when they are seated.
Don't ask me how I know that

LOL... I guess more loctite than I put on there would have been helpful.
Bent valves... doesnt matter. Im refreshing the whole head. New valves, retainers, LMA, new rocker arms... the whole shebang. I got it apart now, might as well put it back together perfect. BTW... I havent been to the machine shop, yet, so Im still not out of the woodwork. Something could be off that I cant see.
The stock b20 rods look like d16 rods... Im wondering how they can last the sheer torture I put through it, esp w/ that long stroke.
