From a dealership? Yeah.

Learn to do it yourself. You'll save lots of cash!

At the dealer a valve "adjustment" should be around 120-150. Timing belt varies, but 600 sounds right. They may be referring to "replacing" valves or something of that sort.

Valve adjustment is an easy DIY. I just did it last week, and I had never seen the inside of any engine.

I paid 280 for my valve job. Hot tank, decking, seating the valves, and assembly was included in the price. But my head was already off the car and the cam and rocker assemble removed as well.

my timing belt broke and it may have bent the pistons and whatnot and they're quoting it to be around 1000 to fix.. wouldn't it just be a better investment to just swap the engine for that amount of money? i mean cmon thats rediculous 1600, thats enough for a quality swap

Get a Dirty-D for $500 and boost it for $1000, sounds about right.

I just paid 167 for a timing belt change (kinda) and an oil change. They basically fixed my timing which consisted of removing the belt but they said my belt wasput on a new belt. I was also quoted $50 for a valve adjustment, but since my timing was set back, she said I could hold off on that too. I wasnt due for awhile. This was all at a Honda dealership.

We charge 60 for a valve adjustment. About 120+part for timing belt. Youre getting ripped

If you broke your motor due to breaking a timing belt, it may be less expensive to buy another complete running engine.

Just get another cylinder head. Your pistons are probably fine, but you may have some bent valves.

i got my sohc vtec head hot tanked, milled flat, and check for cracks for $45. then i used valve grinding compound and lapped my own valves in, after cleaning them with emory cloth. then i replaced my valve seals and reassembled the whole head. I paid less than $100 for basically new head. do it yourself and save.
