Tranny code for a y8
I picked up a y8 swap for my ex.....well, it included a tranny, what is the code for a d16y8 tranny? Just want to make sure it's an ex tranny before I put it in, thanks..

look for the casting number. its right next to the axle side. it should say p40/booo if it dont read that then u got a long gear tranny like the dx or cx

yea, looks like I got screwed.......I think it's a P20......anyone know what model that comes from??
Also, since I'm going boost.....what tranny would be better??

My 95 ex tranny didnt have any of those numbers on it and it had alot shorter gears then the dx oens. But my 2k ex tranny is like y4f or something like that.
the p20 is from the 92-95 civic EX/SI, check the casting number if its reads p20/BOOO then u got an EX/SI tranny.
the p40 is from the 96-00 civic EX
both tranny have the same gear ratio, but the y8 would be better cuz it has stronger fork
