I'd probably not run them.....only because I believe 16s are the biggest that should ever appear on EG/DCs.....
but thas juss me.....
what IF 17" were lighter?
not exactly these wheels but say 17" MF10 that weighs 15 lbs vs 15" Stock that weighs 15.5 lbs

people forget that it's still gonna take more energy to spin a 17 even if it is light because all the weight is gonna be at the ends of the wheels...in the form of THE TIRES....
go 15s go!!
Um yeah. What has lower profile tires, 15" or 17". On a 17" you'd have less weight from the tires on the outside.
Well it's just common sense. Less rubber=lighter tire.
Yes but when your dealing with light weight rims such as Spoon, Desmond or Mugen, the rims are usually lighter than the tires. So I'd rather have as much rim and as little tire as possible. And the tires on those rims are 215's. That's not much larger than a 205. I would think the low profile would more than make up for the added 10mm width.

The further away the mass is from the center of rotation, the more torque is needed to spin the wheel to a desired rotational speed. This is simple physics. Two identical style/made wheels of size 17" and 15" will have two different moment of inertias.
Try holding a baseball bat and hold it by the extreme end and swing it up and down. Then choke up on the bat and repeat. Which takes less effort?

It is still a problem because the 17" rim with tire although same overall diameter as the 15" with tire. The 17" Has its weight further out so it takes more to spin it compared to having the majority of the weight closer to the inner part of the rim.
I understand that the further out the weight is, the more torque needed to spin it. But what I'm trying to get at is that there is less mass from the tire on the far outside. Plus there is more rim on the far outside of the rim/tire combo. Since racing rims are lighter than tires, this would be a good thing. So if you keep the same overall diameter you end up with less weight on the outside. Haven't you guys ever felt the weight of a rim before and after the tire was mounted?
I've felt the difference in weight yes.....
from mounting a set of Spoon's with 32Rs and having them mounted with a set of Toyo TIPlus (ol' skool)
the difference is quite pronounced.
Either way, the choice is up to you....but just for the sake of argument...lightweight tires can be had in 15s.... stuff like the Hoosiers... or even conventional street tires.... ala the ones I mentioned above.
Who was it that use to run that Prelude shop that got shut down hardcore - for scamming
-when he did a dyno test between some 18in ADVANs vs the stock wheels ....and he lost some whp down low but managed to turn the same peak WHP?

damn those rims look sweet!!!!!!!!!soo expensive..
16" would look nicer though. 17" wouldnt have much sidewall on a DC2
