90 B21A1 Free Wheeling?
I am trying to find out if the b21a1 is a free wheeling engine. Broke my timing belt on the highway. Havent had a chance to do a leak down test. j/w if anyone knows whether its free wheeling... wondering if i did any damage to the valves. Put a new belt on and it wont fire. Turns over smooth.
dont think "free wheeling" is the correct term but i do believe that the valves will impact the pistons when the belt lets loose...head over to http://www.preludepower.com and search there..that's the 88-91 prelude mecca

I had the timing belt break on me as well, same year and engine. Not sure if/what damage was done but $650 later it was running again. Not all that cost was just the belt and labor though, towing costs and a new water pump were factors. It was really weird when it happened. I was going about 30MPH and all the sudden the gas pedal had no effect and the car just rolled to a stop. Luckily I was a few hundred feet from a gas station and had friends following behind me and they helped push it into a parking space out of the way. The people that worked on it said it could have been very badly damaged from that happening, but I guess it was ok.
