Default CTR pistons...

Hey guys I am waiting on a fully built head from dh-racing right now, and while my motor is apart I decided on getting some new pistons as well, I have a b16 that has 60k on the block but i am on a pretty tight budget, I was wondering if I could put ctr pistons in it while using my stock b16a2 rods and everything. Would it be ok to just replace the pistons and piston rings? Anything else I should replace while the block is out of the car? thanks

Yes, CTR pistons will work with B16 rods just fine. Replace rings, bearings, and thrust washers while you're at it. Change all the gaskets too.

i don't have any first hand experience with this, but i *heard* that b16a rods must be machined to fit b16b pistons. just something to look into.

How much are you getting the CTR pistons for? If they cost near aftermarkets, get some forged pistons or something from like SRP or JE.

I built my B16A with CTR pistons. I had the rods milled 1mm on each side to accommodate the CTR pistons. The pistons will stick out of the block about .015, just be a little cautious when choosing your head gasket and having your head milled. Also, make sure you hone the cylinders.
