Default clutch problems

When my car is cold, first thing in the morning, I can not engage any of the gears.
It has happened a few times.I thought The transmission was low on fluid , so i change the transmission fluid, now I can change gears smoother but a couple of times when the car was cold i could not put it into gear. I even shut of the engine and then I could change gears, but when I started the engine again the shifter stick was very hard as if I wasn"t pushing the clutch. Only when the rpm when down to 1000 then I could put the transmission into gear.
thanks ,if anybody can help

from what you are saying, and this is just from over 20 yrs driving sticks, it seems that a part called the syncronizers are going out on your trany. I would say rebuild or replace the trany before they go out and then yea, you could blow up your trany. I had that happen on a Peterbelt. That was a mess on the freeway. LOL

Yeah, that previous reply sounds about right. When the trans is cold the oil is thicker and none of the parts are moving at equal speeds. If the synchros are bad they wont let the gears match speed and mesh properly. If this is the case you may either get it rebuilt at a trans shop or look into getting one out of the salvage yard.
How many miles are on your car?

Are you using Honda MTF? or Redline MTF? If not, they might help with cold weather? I had similiar problem with my old car and I switched to Redline MTF and it made difference. Got to be careful with these two oil because if the tranny seals are worn, they sprung leaks. if they sprung leaks, it is time to replace seals, plus other things, etc.

Hi nick
I have 280.000 km.
I change the transmission oil to a synthetic 10w30 oil, it seems to work, now I have to wait and see until it get really cold. I live in Canada , Winnipeg, and temperatures go down to -40celcius. so far the coldest morning has been -2 celcius.
Thank you for your reply.
