How to get flash code from check engine light on OBDI vehicle?
I have searched to no avail and have found no "How To" threads.
I am wondering exactly how to do this b/c I have a '95 Mitsu PickUp and the check engine and maintenance required lights are both on and a local mechanic wants $60 just to tell me why the light's on. If someone could tell me how to do this it would be greatly appreciate.
TIA!

No, a repair manual is gonna tell you how to pull codes from a Mitsu. They're all different. Like on your Honda you find the wire under the dash & jumper it, maybe on the Mitsu that wire will be in the engine compartment. Or under the back seat. Maybe it's not as simple as jumpering a wire?
Besides, the type of codes are probably completely different. And you'll need the list of what the codes mean - that isn't gonna be the same as Honda.

Where to obtain a Helms manual?
Is a Helms another version of a Haynes? Same concept or what?

Helm publishes the 'official' repair manual for Hondas, & several other makes. I don't know about Mitsu... (www.helminc.com).
Haynes & Chilton publish repair manuals for almost all cars, but (at least for Honda) they're not nearly as detailed as Helm. I suppose any of them would have the procedure for reading trouble codes.
