Default stepping on clutch causes my rpm's to shoot up

all the sudden, whenever i step on my clutch, my rpm's shoot up. i could be completely off the gas and when i hit my clutch my rpm's shoot up 500-1k. this happens only when i am at 4000+ rpm's. i have checked to make sure my gas pedal isnt stuck. tried sticking my foot under it and tried to pull it out...but it didnt move anywhere...so i doubt its my gas pedal stuck..nothing is caught on that one wire u press to rev ur engine near the intake manifold..dont know what its called...just a wierd problem. thanks

if the clutch was slipping, then when he pushed the gas (which he is not) and the clutch was engaged (which it is not) Only then would the rising RPM's mean that his clutch is slipping. but he pushes the clutch in (disengages) above 4000 RPM and the RPM's rise, as though he's pushing on the gas, but he's not.

I don't know what it could be, unless there is something pulling on the accelerator cable or something.

when does this problem happen? are you drive the car hard? sitting at idle? driving normal, if so what speeds?

So it's not over 4000 then, but the idle is higher after you've been over 4000. Gotta clarify that, dude.

Is the idle surging at all?

by surging, you mean moving?? it dosent shoot up..but it goes up to about 1400 and holds for about a second, then it drops back down to normal idle.

Just the one time then?

It seems like this only happens when you're rolling at a decent speed then. Maybe your clutch isn't releasing fully, and it is keeping your revs up slightly for a bit?
