I searched.. Really.. I did..
CLIFF NOTES -- Minneapolis + S2k + Snow tires = yes or no?
Maybe I suck *** at serching (probably closest to the truth)..
I live in Minneapolis, MN.. Great city, shitty winters.. I work at a job where a winter "beater" is not really an option. I must drive a decent vehicle for my clients etc - so a rusty, no mufflered 88 Accord wont work..
So my question - as I'm sure its been asked before, is - how capable is the S2000 in the REAL winter months, where snow and ice are commonplace.. I would OBVIOUSLY run a set of snow tires - probably front AND back (surely back). What else can I do to improve?
Is it even worth my time or can it be driven. I dont do a whole lot of driving - get on the freeway - drive 15 miles to work and thats about it. When the weather gets really bad - I can either take my time or stay home.. I just dont want to REALLY regret buying an S2k if they are HORRIBLE in upper states weather.
Any advice is greatly appreciated - I'm sorry for the newbie post that I'm sure has been asked a million times. My search skills were seemingly lacking.
Oh yeah - how good of a job does the factory soft top do for keeping the cold in and the heat out in these winter conditions.

Car Soup? I like to by owner to owner - unless your REALLY interested in some kind of overpriced warranty. I would look on cars.com and whatnot. The frickin paper here is clustered with dealers. I would try to find someone locally owner to owner trying to dump one before winter..
And how the hell was hopkins selling an S with a differnet color front bumper? do you mean different SHADE or different color?

That is exactly what it does, keeps the cold in and the heat out. If you don't keep the heat on, the cold comes in pretty quick. But, the heat gets so freakin' hot since the vents are so close to you. I find the you can stay just fine and warm in the car with no problems as long as the heat is on a low setting.
I've driven my car on the stock S02's in about 3 inches of snow. While it wasn't a very fast pace, it made it just fine as long as I kept the throttle steady and took my time around turns. Snow tires should help it a lot. But, if you drive in more snow than that on the road, I don't think you'll be going anywhere due to the lack of ground clearance.
