Default Is my thermostat on its way out?

In the summer time the ned on the temperature gauge sites 1 line below the halfway mark. Now that its cold out in the morning, I like to keep the temperature to the maximum heat setting. The needle now sits 2 lines below the halfway mark. Then when I downshift and coast, the temperature drops further to 3 lines below the halfway mark.

Is this normal? or should I replace the thermostat ?
I have the norma mild mods I/H/E.

For the $10 it costs to replace one, just buy and see if it cures the problem.
