uh yeah..what causes tranny fluid to leak?
long story short my clutch(Action 2md) pedal stiffness has decreased and it doesnt bite nearly as hard as it did a couple days ago.
i knew something was up. clutch fluid level looks fine though.
so i decided to get under and check.
ive got (what appears to me) to be tranny fluid on part of the bottom of the tranny..i cant tell for sure for sure(although it smells like it to me) but it looks like its coming from that little vent hole (where the flywheel cover is) . i was abusing the car the other night and this came as a result of it.
im wondering if fluid has gotton on the clutch and pplate thus resulting in the feel i have now.
and if that is tranny fluid coming from inside the tranny like that..wtf is broken now?
i know its not leaking down from anywhere else nor is it motor oil etc. car still drives alright although it makes some weird noise(Relating to the driveshafts) sometimes.
cooked diff?

yeah, at the drag strip.
any ideas other then that?
underneath the car various parts are shiny and have a thin coat of the fluid(probably from driving home on the highway)
looks like im gonn have to drop the tranny

There aren't but 2 seals to be concerned about: Rear Main Seal (surrounding the crank) and the tranny input shaft seal.
Is there an inspection plate you can remove to uncover the lower half of the tranny?

oh car is a 00 Si
as far as I know there is only that lower "cover" that exposes the lower part of the flywheel.
i was thinking and it looks like it COULD be coming from the intermediate shaft..wehre it goes into the tranny. it was tough to see because of the header but the header had some fluid on it and that would be the onlyplace i could see it coming from.
im not leaking oil so the main seal is most likelyfine.

anyone?
im thinking its the input shaft seal now.
i pulled the header off and that lower cover/support for the tranny. it exposes the bottom/back of the flywheel and some fluid was sitting in the support and everything up inside from waht i can see is shiny/wet . doesnt look like its coming from either axle.
my guess is the tranny needs to be dropped? if it is just the seal. is that hard to replace?
could there be worse damage then that?
thanks
i hope my clutch and flywheel are ok

I had always thought once a clutch disk becomes contaminated with oil, its toast, but I've not encountered this problem before, so I dunno for sure.
Yeah, you're gonna have to drop the tranny, split the case halves, remove the whole gear cluster and the input shaft bearing and that will give you access to this seal.
No, its not hard at all to replace, assuming you're not scurred to open up the tranny.

i am a little bit since ive never done it.
but i may try.
ordered a new seal and bearing and new rear main seal(might aswell)
i think thats good enough for now..or should i replace anything else while im in there?
hopefully the clutch is ok. it is a 6 puck so the pads are different then the normal organic stuff.
ill just brake clean the hell out of it

You're replacing the ISB - is it making noise are giving cause for concern? Because if thats the case, when my ISB went in my D tranny, the bearing on the opposite end REALLY took some abuse - the ***** weren't shiny - they were flaky. Luckily it seems the magnet collected it all, or most of it. I've now got ~9k miles on the new the bearing and not a hint of noise/vibration.
But what you listed sounds about right for replacing stuff: Main Seal, Input shaft seal and the ISB itself.
Make sure you have some HondaBond around to seal the two tranny halves back up.

well there is no way to tell the full extent of the damage until its open ..hopefully its just what i have ordered.
my isb was loud and got quiet when the clutch was engaged. (running water noise )
so it couldve crapped out on me causing the seal to go..I guess ill find out but while im there ill replace it anyways.
thanks for the help!

well...
its the DIFF!
it broke..causing one of the gears to wobble which in turn chipped the inside of the casing which caused a small hole
sheeeeeeet.
