Winterizing car? tires?
what would be the best way 2 prep for winter? i live in boston & last year it was cold as **** and expecting more of the same. what would u recc. for tires? im takin my Si wheels off and i was lookin at HanKook W404's to throw on my steelies. any other ideas? plugs wires? jus did an oil change 2 weeks ago. car has 98k on it, 16y7. oh yea its dropped on GC's about 2" should i raise it up? dont wanna get bottomed out.
How much snow do you get?? Depending on how much, you may want to raise your car. I know here in ND, some places I cant ecen drive my civic at stock height or I'll get stuck. Also depends if the plowed or not. The only problems I have (besides half assed plowing) is my car not starting. We get pretty cold here (downwards of -60 or more). May want to invest in a block heater. Never had a problem starting my wifes car with block heater. Mine startsd if I leave in the garage.
Boston ha, I think we got you beat out here in rochester, ny it ****** hell here in winter!
Anyway I dont think there is that much prep needed for winter, will the winter really ruin rims?
I would change the coolant mix, oil, thats it

I've lived in both places for a few years (in Boston now). For winter, I just throw on my snow / steelie combo, and go. Just follow my regular maintenance schedule. If you're sluggish starting, might want to think about a battery soon. Not really much else if the car has been maintained properly.

It's the road salt that they throw down that eats at the finish on your aluminum rims, especially where you have lead balancing weights.
2 different types of metal + road salt and water = corrosion

Yeah, I'm running 14" steelies with 185/65s. I used to actually have used 13" steelies before (165 I think), but those rims were getting pretty corroded, so now I'm using the stock wheels.
