accord with a hitch and trailer!?!?!?!?
i was wondering if anyone is running a hitch and towing a small trailer with an accord. i have a '98 v6 sedan and just bought a kawasaki kdx220r. i'm thinking about getting a 1,000 or 1,200 gvw trailer to pull the new bike on. any ideas/experiences, etc. is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.
I would also like to know. I just got a 04 Honda ATV and have a 97 Accord w/H22 swap that I would like to tow my ATV with.
I have a hidden hitch on my 96 and tow a small 5x8 utility trailer with my dirtbike. I have had up to 2 on there at a time with no problems. I have also pulled other stuff on there. The gas milage gets cut in half but that is to be expected. It does really well pulling it. It doesn't accelerate quite as fast but that is also to be expected. I don't think I would pull a trailer bigger than 5X8 though. The GWR is supposed to only be 100lbs on the Accord and the trailer less than 1000lbs fully loaded. It works great for hauling bikes or quads but if you want to haul a horse trailer or something It wont work.
Oh yeah my hidden hitch trailer hitch can be taken off with 6 bolts but I just leave it on. It wasnt hard to put on it just took me a little while as I had never put one on before and I had to pull a bolt through the inside of the frame out of a hole and it was supposed to be a no drill hitch but I did have to drill to make on hole on each side a little bigger but it wasn't a big deal.
didn't have any issues with my 94 Coupe 4cyl. I had one put on at uhaul.
Only used it for transporting my Hobie 16 (sailboat) but it handled it ok. About the same weight as a jetski I guess. Maybe more.

Yup my car handles fine. I like it and don't race it so I don't care about the extra weight the hitch adds but if I do race I would take it off while at the drag strip. I would reccoemend installing it yourself if you get the Hidden Hitch or a non drill one like that as it is pretty easy you just need a torque wrench and sockets and a drill and file to make a hole a little bigger but not hard to do.

I tow with my 98 4cyl no problems. I keep it light under 1k per the manual though. Usually a 5x8 trailer and a few bags of concrete is all i care to attmept (tranny issues) with your model.
