Default CTR / lsvtec ?

ok, so if this a stupid idea im sorry. lots of my ideas are stupid.

my question is, will an ls crank and rods bolt into a b16b? keep everything b16b except for the crank and rods. you would have an lsvtec with around 12:1 compression (guess), a head that flows well, good cams, good gearing, etc. at that point you could do a decent header, and some ITB's and have a great daily driver. any input would be appreciated. thanks!

ps. if the CR is high (say too high for pump gas), could it be lowered to a safe enough level with a thicker head gasket?

ok, so from what i understand, any 1.8 liter crank will work in any 1.8 liter block because they all have the same deck height. is this correct or not? second, the compression ratio will be between 12:1 and 13:1. is this correct or not? last, can the compression ratio safely be lowered through the use of a thicker head gasket? im looking to get around 12:1 compression.

thank you for any help.

you are completely correct, cr could easily be lowered via a head gasket, and it will indeed work, but you will need the rods from an ls. so really, it wont be an lsvtec, but rather a stroked out b16b....sounds like a badass setup man!

i believe the compression with that setup and the PCT pistons would be pretty high. around 12-13:1. Since the CTR block is the same as the GSR and Type R blocks, it would be the same as an LSVTEC with PCT pistons. The PCT pistons will yield a different piston to deck height i believe.

cool, thanks for the help. i thought the compression would be pretty high...i may actually swap out the pct pistons for some p73 or p30 pistons to lower the compression a bit. im looking for about 12:1.
