Could be timing, have you checked it lately? Also, how are the plugs? Are the wires old? Could also be a fueling issue, how is your fuel filter looking?

Um plugs and wires are a little old Ill check em out. Replaced fuel filter about 6,000 miles ago
Iv owened the car for about 12,000 miles never checked timing. Is that a basic at home thing to check or would i have to take it to a shop.
Oh i also had to replace the gas tank a little while back and i used the salvaged fuel pump because it looked better than mine could that be an issue.

u can check the timing at home just buy a timing light. my car only does this when im low on gas. so i would check your fuel pump and make sure its ok.

If you're not sure what a timing light is, take it to a shop and have them check it for you. That old fuel pump could be the problem for sure...pull it out of the tank and check to see if the filtering sock is ok (ie: not collapsed and blocking the intake or full of crap).
