anyone paint their stock rims?
i painted mines white, and now i'm kinda regretting it. i was wondering is it ok to sand it off, or does it leave visible scratches? i'm going to repaint it to black. i'm just wondering, will i see the scratches if i sand it off?
Yeah I'm about to paint mine Berlina Black like my car. Yeah I'm sure your regretting the white but you can sand it all down and paint it black.

yup. you'll have to get them sand blasted and powder coated, depending on how you painted them. hopefully this wasn't a driveway-krylon job. cost shouldn't be that bad. est. $50 a wheel.

I got my wheels powder coated Semi flat for $60. If you do not have a clear coat on your wheel it would be $50.
I Dropped them off at 8:00 a.m. and by 3:30 that afternoon they called my to tell me they were ready. I give a

there really isn't a shop i know around seattle that i know that will sandblast and powdercoat for cheap. maybe i'll try intec racing if i can find it. so sanding the old white off is gonna be ok rite?
you get what you pay for, obviously at a high volume place, prices will be cheap but most of the labor goes into stripping the finish already on the wheel

If you are going to repaint it, scratches shouldnt be a problem.
You can use aircraft paint remover, or use ~400 grit wet sand paper.
Wetsand it again with 600grit. Primer the wheel. Then paint the wheel.
It should come out decent for a rattle can job.

You can powdercoat a wheel over the stock coating. There really isn't a reason to remove the original finish.

Since powder coating requires very high temperatures, would such a process degrade the physical properties of the compounds used to construct the stock wheel?
Spugen does have a good price at $40 but that's for the nasty *** gloss black that they use. Now to each their own but IMO, gloss black on oem wheels looks like pure crap. Something about the glossy finish just makes the wheels looks cheap and heavy. Kinda like someone went balistic on them with a rattle spary can in they're garge.
IMO, flat black is the way to go. Never looks dirty, and has almost the same finish as the Sw388's. Which is the look I was going for. Also, Flat Black powder coat is not as "dull" or "flat" as flat black paint. You gotta remember powder coat will always have a more of a "shine" then spray paint. So flat black powder coat, will actlluy look more like a Proffesionaly painted semi flat.

hmm, i wasnt a fan of gloss black, and was all in for the flat black look. i dont think gloss black looks that bad. i was thinking of going w/ flat, but duc @ spugen suggested i get gloss since the dust gets hard to clean off the flat black.

Just did a set of flat black stockies today. Looks good but yes flat black is harder to clean throug time as I have found out. Dust tends to impregnate the wheel making you have to scrub where as the gloss can wiped away with your finger. But again to each their own. S2 Raw, we offer all sorts of colors not just our gloss black...
