Default I need some advice on converting obd0 to obd1

Here is the situation,

I have a obd1 motor with obd1 distribtuor.

I have a 89 hatch STD (dpfi) obd0 car that has no motor. I got a std obd0 wiring harness.

My idea is go to the boneyard and get a obd1 ecu plus the interior wireing harness that goes to the fuse box.

Then hook up the obd1 wireing harness to the obd1 ecu.... i just dont know about the cluster wires and such.

Any input?

Nick

Do-able but not advisable. If you have the time, go for it man. I would suggest getting the Helms manual as well before you start.

DPFI to MPFI and OBD0-1 conversion harness. Or DPFIOBD0-OBD1 conversion harness. But I guess I am baised. If you want to attempt it, I would suggest getting the service manuals and go for it if you have the time.

It truely is just a matter of time, patience, and the mastering of the English language so that you can stare at the Helms all day and be able to understand what wire goes where. If I had the time, or a spare car I would do it.

But midway through it I would get so pissed off I would give Blown90 here a call and grab one of his conversion harnesses

I used that, worked great. very good directions, make your own jumper harness and save lots of money too.

Do the DPFI to MPFI conversion and use blown's obd0-obd1 harness. This will save alot of time and most likely headaches in the long run. Doing the Full interior OBD1 conversion would be cool but, not worth it IMHO.
